COR has been offering professional/pastoral, Christian counseling since 2010 to the ministers, their families and congregations here in the Potomac Ministry Network. By offering financial assistance in a safe and confidential way through individual counseling and consultation, the Ministry Network desires to come along side credentialed individuals and their families thus creating the basis for healthy ministries. COR is operated by Brian Griswold and Dr. Jason Karampatsos; both are ordained ministers with the Assemblies of God and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors.
Brian Griswoldis both an ordained pastor and a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor who has a heart for ministers and their families. Having grown up the son of a pastor and missionary, he is familiar with the pressures and stress that are inherent in ministry. After 27 years in ministry, Brian has a strong desire to use his skill, experience, and passion to see ministers and their families succeed in what God as called them to do. He brings a Christ centered theology and clinical knowledge together, into the counseling experience. With a theoretical orientation towards Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Brian works with couples and adults in the areas of crisis, substance abuse, sexual addiction, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger management. Brian has a Masters in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University, a BS from Southern Connecticut State University, and four units of Clinical Pastoral Education while at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and Hospice of Rhode Island. He currently has his own private practice in Towson Maryland and contracts with Safe Harbor Christian Counseling. He coleads Celebrate Recovery a Christ centered 12-step recovery community of 125 or so at Trinity in Lutherville, MD and volunteers at Teen Challenge working individually with students and running a men’s group. Being married for over 30 years and having three great kids off doing wonderful things for God around the globe, he understands the power of God in a marriage and family in the ministry context and desires to walk with others as they seek wholeness and health in themselves, their families and ministries. Dr. Jason Karampatsos is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and ordained minister with the Assemblies of God who has been working with youth and families for more than a 15 years. He received his B.S. in Bible from Valley Forge Christian College, where he was a Pastoral Counseling major. He subsequently received an M.S. in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College in Maryland and a Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University Maryland examining the relationship between spirituality, personality and marital satisfaction. As a pastor in the DC Metro area he has had the privilege of working with clergy from various denominations journeying with them through personal and ministerial challenges to become healthier and more effective ministers of the Gospel. Beyond his extensive training in theology and psychology, Jason has had practical experience working with youth and families while on staff at churches in Philadelphia, central New Jersey and Annapolis. He interned at a youth and family counseling center in Baltimore County and spent several years working for the Anne Arundel County Crisis Response System working with the Police Department providing mental health assistance to the county’s residents. Jason currently works with Safe Harbor Christian Counseling ministering to churches, families and other clinicians in the greater Washington DC area. As a proud father of three and a husband of almost 20 years, Jason knows the joys that God intended the family to be.
